Thornberry Animal Sanctuary - The Residents

Cats

Domino - Resident

Domino was originally taken in as a stray with a litter of kittens by some kind people who managed to rehome all of her kittens. Unfortunately they could not find a nice new home for Domino herself and as they couldn't keep her they brought her to Thornberry for rehoming.

Once here Domino was put in a pen in the hope of finding her a new home. However, Domino was far from happy at being penned up and was getting more and more aggressive towards the staff when being clean out.

After a few months it was decided that she should be let out to be a resident at the Sanctuary. Since that day she she has never looked back. She is very friendly and has become a real character. She spends most of her day in the Cattery office with the staff, often making a nuisance of herself. She follows the staff everywhere and gets into all sorts of mischief, that when she can be bothered to get out of her bed.

nina

Nina was left to fend for herself with nine other cats. She was very timid when she came to us and had kittens with her.She is approx 15 mths old,she has now been neuted vaccinated and micro-chipped, and is coming round and will now come for a stroke.Nina needs a home with a family who can spend time with her and build up her confidence. No young children a quiet home is what nina needs. Are you the family Nina is looking for if so then please contact cattery staff for more details.30/07/09

Tweetie - Resident

Tweetie is a lovely 10 year old, neutered, semi long haired, black and white, female cat. We were unable to find Tweetie a home, so she is now one of our resident cats.

She is still very scared of strangers, so lives on the embankment at the back of the cattery during the day, but does come in once the public have gone.

Feral Cats and Kittens

We recieve many calls about feral cats and kittens, but are unable to take them into Thornberry as this would mean them being in a pen which would be too stressfull for a wild cat.

Instead we try to relocate them and are desperate for Stable yards and farms who can help us out. Feral cats are excellent mouse catchers and all they ask in return is some food and a place to shelter.

If you can offer suitable accomodation for a feral cat, then please leave your details with our cattery manageress, she can be contacted on 01909 564399 between 11.00-3.00pm

Pearl - Resident

Pearl is a lovely 2yr old black and white cat that came from our dog warden for rehoming. Unfortunatly we discovered Pearl to have the kind of personality that got in the way of her being rehomed. For months in a pen here at Thornberry, many visitors overlooked her and the ones that were interested she would take a swipe at them.

Pearl now lives at the sancuary as a resident and she couldn't be more happier. When she's not snoozing away in our blanket cabinet she's either off exploring the embankments catching critters or making mischeif of herself.

Felix - Resident

Felix came to us as a stray, but like many cats over the years, did not take well to being penned up. She was not aggressive, just extremely timid.

She was released, and over time has gradually come round, she is still a little frightened of strangers, but enjoys the company of the other resident cats; especially Freddie whom she adores.

Bungle

Bungle has been at Thornberry for a few months now. He originally came in with 9 other cats .When he first came to thornberry he wouldnt let us near him and was really timid, but after spending time with him and the other 9 cats we has slowly managed to bring them around. We would like to rehome him with his mum Nina and his brother Todd as he is quite shy. He is 1 year old and has been neutered and microchipped.

Gizmo

Gizmo is a 5 year old black and white female. She is a lovely cat, who has got a naughty side to her. She would probably be better in a home with no young children as she doesnt like been messed with. She gets along with most cats but she hasn't been around dogs. If you are interested in Gizmo please contact the cattery staff. 12.01.10

Freddie - Resident

Freddie came to us as his owner became allergic to him. He was very scared, and became aggressive towards the staff, because he didn't like being penned up. He even earned the nickname Freddie Kreuger.

We decided it would be better for him if he was released, and he took to living on the top shelves of our garage.

With time and patience, the staff managed to bring him round and he is much happier now. He's still unsure of strangers but is a lot better than he was.

Barney - Resident

Barney is a lovely, friendly cat, but unfortunately he has a terrible habit of urinating everywhere, so we found it difficult to rehome him.

He's happy living with the other cats, and often plays with Domino and Sabre. He's also a favourite with the public, as he's the only resident that isn't temperemental.

She gets along with most other cats but hasen't been around any dogs before. She would probably be better in a home with older children than younger children because she can be shy at times. 26.01.10

Cookie

Cookie is a 16 month old black female. She is a lovely cat but she cat be a bit shy until she gets to know you. She loves to have lots of fuss and attention. She gets on well with other cats and would probably get along with dogs aswell as long as they give her space. 26.01.10
